This past week has reminded us of just how wonderful Spring weather feels! Everything around us is teeming with life as we move ever closer to Easter. Though we are only a few short weeks away from Easter, these weeks are filled with plenty of events. As we begin the last week of March, there are a few quick points:
- The official kick-off to our St. Joseph School Boosterthon Fun Run will be this Tuesday, March 28th at 2:20 pm in the Gym. The date of the Fun/Glow Run will be Thursday, April 6th. I am also collecting pledges as well and will run to support our school. Let’s make this a new tradition and a success!
- REMINDER! This coming Wednesday, March 29th, is School Mass at 10:30 am. Don’t forget your Mass uniforms.
- NO D39 Bus Service this week! D39 is on Spring Break.
- CONGRATULATIONS to our
thirteen 8th graders who completed their participation in the Student Government program sponsored by the Wilmette Chapter of the League of Women Voters on March 21st.
They were each given a role to play as part of the Wilmette Park District Board. They had several meetings during school to discuss ideas, learn about Robert’s Rules of Parliamentary Procedure, and come up with a plan for their mock board meeting. They also were able to meet their counterparts on the park district board and sit in on an actual meeting. Their mock board meeting was televised live on channel 6. The students did an outstanding job and were well prepared. Thanks to the LWV as well as the Wilmette Park District especially Mr. Steve Wilson who worked with them for many weeks here at the school.
The video of the meeting will soon be uploaded on the Village of Wilmette website at the following link: http://www.wilmette.com/government/watch-board-meetings/
under Special Programs: Student Government 2017 Village Board Meeting #4.
A Big THANK YOU to Ellen Schermerhorn & Helen Considine for helping to organize our Annual Science Expo this past Wednesday. We had great participation and we thank them as well as the entire community for your support!
