Early Childhood

The St. Joseph Early Childhood Program is designed to expand children’s hearts and minds in order to provide them with an unparalleled first academic experience. We focus on the development of the "Whole Child" and offer the following:

  • Hands-on learning and exploration in the classroom and in our outdoor play spaces

  • Developmentally appropriate religious lessons and services

  • Special classes including Spanish, music, library, and yoga 

  • Visits to our Block Room, Maker Space, Library, and Gym

  • Support from school counselor and occupational therapist consultant 

 

Children emerge from our Early Childhood Program as joyful, curious, and faith-filled learners with the tools and confidence to excel in every stage of their education.

  • Gain social and emotional skills through open play and learning centers

  • Explore creativity and self-expression through multi-sensory art projects

  • Develop motor skills through daily activities

  • Language practice and development through songs and rhymes

  • Half Days (8:15-11:30am) available 2-5 days a week

Children can begin after their 2nd Birthday and Do Not Need to be Potty Trained

  • Structured learning through classroom themes, projects, and centers

  • Focus on independence and Executive Functioning Skills

  • Expand on early literacy skills and phonics

  • Focus on fine motor skill development and handwriting

  • Expand early math skills through hands-on manipulatives 

  • Expand on social and emotional development through group play and problem solving 

  • Half (8:15-11:30am) and Full Days (with Lunch Bunch and Enrichment) available 4-5 days a week

Children must be 4 years old by September 1st and Potty Trained

  • Expand social and emotional skills through learning centers and group play

  • Develop early literacy and math skills through daily routines and hands-on activities

  • Focus on developing the "Whole Child"

  • Fine and gross motors skill development through play based activities and projects

  • Half (8:15-11:30am) and Full Days (with Lunch Bunch and Enrichment) available 3-5 days a week

Children must be 3 years old by September 1st and Potty Trained 

3 year old preschool and Junior Kindergarten students enjoy lunch and recess with their classmates after morning preschool programs (8:15-11:30am). Lunch Bunch is offered on an a la carte basis, up to five afternoons per week from 11:30am-12:45 pm. Students are welcome to leave after Lunch Bunch, or may continue with Enrichment through 3pm.

Our afternoon Enrichment program, offered to 3 year old preschool and Junior Kindergarten students, begins after Lunch Bunch and consists of rest time, snack, and play. Children further develop creativity, fine and gross motor skills, and language skills…all while having fun! This program is offered on an a la carte basis, up to five afternoons per week from 12:45-3pm.
