Mr. Payne holds a BA in History from Western Illinois University in Macomb as well as an Illinois Secondary Education Certificate.
Mr. Payne joined St. Joseph School in 2001. He has taught social studies, religion and literature to sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. He is a dedicated talented educator, winning the prestigious Archdiocese “Heart of the School” Award in 2005.
With over 20 years of experience as a teacher at both the junior high school and high school levels, Mr. Payne taught junior high at Our Lady of Charity School in Cicero and at Academy of Our Lady High School in Chicago prior to joining St. Joseph.
Mr. Payne is a fanatical lover of history and has visited many historical sites and museums. He also enjoys music and watching movies and sports – especially pro football. Despite having no love for vegetables, he is an avid gardener.
Mr. Payne resides in Forest Park and is active in his community and at St. Luke’s parish. He is a fourth generation teacher in his family going back to the early 1900’s. Mr. Payne states, “Teaching is what I love to do. It is something that is part of my family and is a part of me. I wouldn’t want to do anything else.”
