photoIn 2013, St. Joseph School announced the introduction of its pilot technology program which put an iPad in the hands of every second and fifth grade student as well as iPads in the junior high math classrooms. At the same time, St. Joseph School was made ready for the full implementation of a wireless network and several Apple classrooms were established. Upon conclusion of this program in 2014, we are proud to announce the successful completion of our pilot program and the introduction of a 1:1 program with every St. Joseph student from second through eighth grade having access to an iPad through which St. Joseph School can further customize each student’s learning experience and maximize their potential.

Building on a very successful technology pilot program over the prior school years, St. Joseph School Wilmette has invested and implemented classroom technology solutions that rival any school in the North Shore area. Our school has a dedicated School Technology Committee which works to monitor, measure, design and implement technology solutions that enhance the educational experience for our students.

For the 2014-15 school year, the school will expand its iPad program to include 1:1 iPads for all students in 5th through 8th grades. St. Joseph will have 2:1 iPads for children in grades 2 – 4.

The expansion will allow St. Joseph students to fully utilize technology in all classrooms and subjects as needed, and prepare them for entry into similar iPad and tablet environments implemented at New Trier, Loyola Academy and other area high schools. Additionally, the technology expansion will include major network infrastructure upgrades throughout the school facilities, and all K-8 classrooms at St. Joseph will be equipped with a Smartboard or equivalent digital network projector.

“The Technology Program at St. Joseph will continue to enhance the already strong curriculum that our teachers and staff have developed,” said School Principal Laszlo Katona. “Furthermore, the faculty and students are both very excited to have these innovative tools that compliment and strengthen our program which will help us achieve continued high academic performance in a 21st century blended learning environment.”
