Phil
Jones
graduated from St. Joseph School in 1955. After
graduation, he attended Loyola, then Notre Dame, followed by an
MBA from the University of Chicago and then a CPA! He is married,
has a 12 year old son, and lives in Olympia, Washington. He currently
designs and develops computerized financial systems and plans
to write a book about his 8th grade class and Wilmette during
that era.
His
favorite St. Joseph School memory? "One day, on the 8th grade
playground, which was across the street from the school, I found
a dead rabbit in some bushes. What to do with it, I wondered.
Looking around, the answer became clear! I started swinging that
rabbit around and around and chased the girls with it. What glee!
The girls screamed bloody murder and ran in all directions. Then
the nun came out. End of chase. End of rabbit. End of Philip.
No senses of humor! Ah the joys of St. Joe in the 50's!"
Phil also remembers the entire 8th grade class, about 82 students,
trick or treating together on Halloween.
